Health Tip:

Cholesterol-lowering foods effective as statin drugs

In a study involving subjects with high cholesterol, adherence to a diet involving a combination of cholesterol-lowering foods was found to reduce LDL-cholesterol by at least 20% over the course of 1 year. This reduction was comparable to the reduction brought about through the use of a statin drug by a portion of the test subjects. (Reference: Am J Clin Nutr, 2006; 83(3): 582-91. )
